The Apple Watch Series 8 (GPS, 41mm) in Starlight is a feature-rich smartwatch from Apple released in September 2022, bundled with a Starlight Sport Band in S/M size. Powered by the Apple S8 dual-core chip with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, it comes in a lightweight anodized aluminum case weighing just 1.13 ounces (31.9g) and measuring 41 x 35 x 10.7mm.

The watch features a 1.8-inch Always-On Retina LTPO OLED display with 352x430 resolution and 1,000 nits peak brightness, protected by scratch-resistant Ion-X glass on the front and a ceramic and sapphire crystal back. The Digital Crown provides haptic feedback for intuitive navigation.

Series 8 introduced major new health and safety capabilities. Dual temperature sensors enable advanced women's health features including cycle tracking and ovulation estimation. An upgraded accelerometer and gyroscope support Crash Detection, which automatically contacts emergency services when a severe automobile collision is detected. Longstanding health sensors include a third-generation optical heart rate monitor, an electrical heart sensor powering the ECG app, a Blood Oxygen (SpO2) sensor, and an always-on altimeter for continuous elevation tracking.

This GPS model connects to L1 GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou satellite systems for precise location tracking without a paired iPhone, along with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and Bluetooth 5.3. The Apple W3 wireless chip and Ultra Wideband chip are also integrated. Battery life is rated up to 18 hours of typical use, extendable to up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode. This model requires an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16 or later and shipped with watchOS 9, with support for the current watchOS release.
