Morton's of Omaha Steakhouse Classic Tri-Tip is a USDA Choice beef bottom sirloin cut, pre-seasoned with a classic steakhouse rub and sold at Costco by the pound in approximately 3-pound packages. The tri-tip is a triangular cut from the bottom sirloin, prized for its tenderness, juiciness, and bold beef flavor. Only USA-raised USDA Choice beef is used, making this an excellent value for a premium-tasting cut.
This versatile cut can be prepared three ways. On the grill, preheat to 400-450°F and cook fat side up for 30 minutes to 1 hour, flipping at least once, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F. In the oven, roast at 425°F on a rack fat side up for 1 to 1.5 hours to an internal temperature of 145°F. In a smoker, preheat to 225°F and smoke fat side down for 3.5 to 4 hours to 145°F. After cooking by any method, cover and let rest at least 5 minutes before slicing across the grain for maximum tenderness.
