Jean-Luc Colombo La Belle de Mai is a white wine from Saint-Péray in the Northern Rhône Valley of France, produced by renowned winemaker Jean-Luc Colombo. The wine is a co-fermented blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, the two classic white grape varieties of the Northern Rhône, which together produce a wine of distinctive aromatic complexity and texture.
"La Belle de Mai" — The Beauty of May — evokes the delicate arrival of spring. The wine displays a beautiful golden color with an intense floral and fruity nose featuring notes of iris, hawthorn, linden blossom, candied fruit, and fresh hazelnuts. On the palate it is full-bodied with rich, concentrated flavors of quince, vanilla, and a hint of lemon zest, finishing with silky texture and a lingering richness.
Rated 91 points by Wine Advocate and 90 points by Wine Spectator. The Wine Advocate describes it as "a top-flight effort... round with a hint of honeyed richness. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky-textured and lush, with a lingering finish." Wine Spectator notes "plump and forward, with a shortbread note wrapped around star fruit, white peach, and lemon peel flavors." Pairs excellently with roasted poultry or sole meunière. 750ML bottle.
