Joseph Drouhin Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is one of Burgundy's most iconic red wines, crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the legendary Clos de Vougeot vineyard of Vougeot, in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of France. The 50-hectare (125-acre) walled Clos was first planted by the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux in the 12th century and remains one of the most celebrated Grand Cru sites in all of Burgundy. Joseph Drouhin owns two carefully tended parcels on a gentle slope with due east exposure, planted in a mosaic of clay and limestone soils.

The wine displays a brilliant ruby red color that deepens beautifully with age. On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of raspberry and wild cherry, evolving over time toward more complex notes of undergrowth, truffle, and candied fruit. The palate is marked by a sublime structure with refined, elegant tannins, a remarkable balance, and a long, lingering finish that exemplifies Drouhin's hallmark pursuit of elegance and terroir expression.

Grapes are hand-harvested in open-work crates with careful sorting. Vinification includes 20 to 50% whole-cluster fermentation, two to three weeks of maceration with punchdowns and pump-overs using indigenous yeasts, and pressing in a traditional vertical press. The wine is aged 16 to 20 months in French oak barrels, with 30% new oak. Optimal drinking window is 15 to 20 years from vintage, with an ageing potential of up to 30 years. Serve at 16–18°C (61–65°F).
