Rodney Strong Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium Sonoma County red wine presented in a generous 1.5-liter magnum bottle, equivalent to two standard bottles. This flagship Reserve designation represents the winemaker's careful selection of the finest individual Cabernet Sauvignon lots from meticulously farmed sections of Alexander Valley and the mountains north of Lake Sonoma.
Each vineyard block is hand harvested individually, fermented separately, and aged in the finest French oak barrels. Only lots that display depth, richness, intensity, and age-worthiness earn inclusion in the Reserve blend. The wine is assembled and returned to barrels for further flavor integration, aging an additional 14 to 20 months before bottling—with the 2014 vintage spending 27 months in French oak, 43% new.
The wine delivers rich, lush, and structured character with intense aromas and flavors of blackberry, black currant, cassis, and crushed violet. The palate is velvety with a smooth, lingering finish of toasty baking spices, vanilla, and cocoa. It pairs beautifully with blue cheese crostini, grilled vegetables, and braised beef short ribs, and is equally suited to cellaring for future enjoyment.
Rodney Strong Vineyards was founded in 1959 by wine industry pioneer Rod Strong and is now owned by the Klein family, who are committed to sustainable land stewardship. The winery practices Fish Friendly Farming and has been carbon neutral since 2009. The Reserve Cabernet consistently earns 90+ point ratings from Wine Enthusiast and Connoisseurs' Guide.
