G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo DOC is an approachable red wine from one of Barolo's pioneering organic estates in Piedmont, Italy. Produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from high-elevation, organically farmed vineyards in the communes of Barolo, Novello, and Sinio, the fruit grows on clay-limestone soils at 350–400 meters elevation. Vines range from 7 to 25 years old, and grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve aromatics.

The wine undergoes gentle maceration and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, then ages 8 to 14 months primarily in stainless steel with some neutral Slavonian oak casks. This winemaking approach preserves vibrant varietal freshness while developing classic Nebbiolo character. The resulting wine shows light garnet color with ruby reflections, aromas of dried rose petals, crushed violets, fresh raspberry, graphite, and citrus peel, and a palate of bright cherry and blood orange with hints of white pepper and mountain herbs, framed by silky tannins and lively acidity. Alcohol: 13%.

G.D. Vajra was founded by Aldo Vaira in 1972 and became a pioneer of organic viticulture in Piedmont, achieving certification in 1971. The estate spans approximately 40 hectares across prestigious sites including Bricco delle Viole, Ravera, Coste di Rose, and Fossati. Today the Vaira family continues the tradition of elegant, terroir-driven winemaking. Best served at 60–64°F, optionally with light decanting. Pairs well with pasta ragù, vitello tonnato, mushroom risotto, roasted duck, and aged cheese.
