Château Cos d'Estournel 2019 is a Grand Vin from the prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation on Bordeaux's Left Bank, produced by one of the region's most celebrated Second Growth châteaux. The 2019 vintage is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, aged in 55% new French oak barrels. It earned near-perfect scores from the world's leading critics, including 99 points from James Suckling (#40 Wine of the World 2022), 98 points from Vinous Media, Wine Enthusiast, and Decanter, 97 points from Wine Advocate, and 96 points from Wine Spectator and Jeb Dunnuck.
The wine opens with intensely aromatic notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries, and wild plums, layered with hints of coffee, nutmeg, dark chocolate, black truffle, spice, loamy soil, and lead pencil minerality. On the palate it is full-bodied yet refined, with a supple and velvety tannic structure, exceptional purity, and a long, elegant finish. Wine Spectator noted best drinking from 2024 through 2040, while Jeb Dunnuck recommends 7–8 years of cellaring to reach peak maturity, with 25+ years of prime drinking potential. Approximately 15,000 cases were produced globally.
