Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is the third wine produced by Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, a celebrated 1855 Second Growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux, France. Introduced with the 2019 vintage as the successor to the estate's former Lalande-Borie bottling, it offers an accessible expression of the Borie family's winemaking philosophy while retaining the elegance and structure synonymous with the Saint-Julien terroir.
The blend is led by Merlot (approximately 75%), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (approximately 20%) and a small proportion of Petit Verdot, sourced from the estate's Saint-Julien vineyards. The wine is aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, one-third new, contributing refinement without masking the fruit. Aromas of blueberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, graphite, and subtle floral notes lead to a medium-bodied palate with fine, silky tannins and a focused, pure finish. The 2022 vintage earned 94 points from James Suckling and 92 points each from Wine Advocate and Vinous. This Costco offering is sold as a case of 12 bottles, each 750mL.
Pairs well with roasted poultry, lamb, veal, duck, braised meats, and mushroom-based dishes.
