San Polo Rosso di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese wine from the Montalcino appellation in Tuscany, Italy, produced by the San Polo estate (Poggio San Polo). The estate's vineyards — Vineyard Rossa and Vineyard d'Oriente — sit on the southeastern slopes of Montalcino, a terroir prized for cultivating Sangiovese grapes.
Grapes are hand-harvested in small 17 kg crates during the final days of September and undergo soft pressing following careful bunch selection. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with malolactic fermentation occurring in large 2,000L and 4,000L barrels. The wine is then aged for 12 months in lightly-toasted large oak barrels (2,000L and 4,000L) before additional bottle aging prior to market release.
The wine displays a vivid ruby red color with aromas of fresh red fruits, morello cherry, blackberry, and black cherry, accented by subtle hints of vanilla. On the palate it is warm and soft with medium structure and well-balanced tannins, offering immediate approachability alongside the characteristic integrity of Montalcino Sangiovese. Sold in 750ML bottles; Costco case pack is 6 bottles.
