Domaine du Grand Tinel's prestige cuvée, named after estate founder Alexis Establet, is a benchmark Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Southern Rhône Valley of France. The estate has been producing wine since 1846, when Alexis Establet first acquired the original vineyard parcels, and now encompasses 74 hectares of vines.
This single-vineyard wine is sourced exclusively from the La Gardiole lieu-dit, where century-old Grenache vines grow in rock and sand soils. Made from 100% old-vine Grenache—with vines exceeding 100 years of age—it is produced only in the finest vintages, with approximately 1,300 cases made annually. The estate is farmed 100% organically, and winemaking is guided by renowned Rhône consultant Philippe Cambie.
After harvest, the wine is aged 12–18 months in a combination of 35% new French oak barrels, used oak casks, demi-muids, and large foudres. The result is a full-bodied, voluptuous wine with aromas and flavors of blackberry compote, cherry-vanilla, crushed flowers, herbes de Provence, black raspberry, and singed anise. Fine-grained tannins and a long, layered finish make this an exceptional Châteauneuf-du-Pape suited for near- to medium-term cellaring.
