Shinobu 10 Year Old Pure Malt Japanese Whisky 750ML

Shinobu Pure Malt 10 Year Old Lightly Peated is a Japanese blended malt whisky crafted at the Shinobu Distillery in Niigata, a seaside region on Japan's western coast renowned for its snow, rice, and sake heritage. Master blender Mr. Usami Ken aged this whisky in sherry and bourbon hogshead casks for more than 10 years, then finished it in rare Japanese Mizunara oak — a wood prized since the 1930s for imparting flavors of apple, pear, cloves, and nutmeg. A touch of peat adds complexity with notes of seaweed and smoke, while the whisky remains non-chill filtered and free of added coloring.

On the nose, the whisky opens with delicious honey aromas alongside hints of chocolate, dry grass, and bonfire from the lightly peated malts. The palate delivers caramel, coffee, and gentle smoky flavors followed by seaweed and vanilla. The finish is long and smooth with notes of salted caramel.

This expression was awarded Silver with 91 points at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2022. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), 750ML.
