Ron Abuelo Centuria is a limited-edition, premium aged rum from Panama, crafted exclusively from sugar cane harvested on the Varela Estate in Pesé, southern Panama. The estate was founded by Don Jose Varela, a Spanish entrepreneur who opened the first sugar mill in the region and began distilling rum from his excess sugar cane harvest. Today, the third generation of the Varela family continues the tradition, guided by a passion for producing the finest aged rum in the world.

Unlike many producers, the Varela Estate refuses flame-harvesting, instead hand-harvesting sugar cane at peak maturity to preserve the sugars at the base of the stalk. After shredding, fermentation, and distillation, the rum undergoes solera aging for up to 30 years in used Jack Daniel's whiskey barrels. The solera method — traditionally used for cognacs, ports, and sherries — involves cascading rum through a series of casks, ensuring no cask is ever fully emptied and that younger spirit gradually acquires complexity over time.

Ron Abuelo Centuria was created to commemorate the distillery's 100th anniversary. It presents a dark caramel color, with an aroma of sweet vanilla, toffee, and chocolate. The palate delivers notes of crème brûlée, molasses, coffee, and dark tea, finishing with a lingering touch of sweetness. The rum earned 97 points from Wine Enthusiast and was named among the Top 50 Spirits, and received 96 points from the Beverage Testing Institute, which described it as "a fantastically flavorful and balanced sipping rum." It also won a Master Medal at The Rum & Cachaça Masters. 750mL, 40% ABV.
