Château du Cartillon Haut-Médoc is a classic red Bordeaux blend from the Haut-Médoc appellation in France, produced by Château du Cartillon, a member of the Grands Chais de France (Groupe GCF). The estate is situated in the village of Lamarque, positioned between the prestigious communes of Margaux and Saint-Julien. Each 750ML bottle is sourced from Costco in a case of six.
This wine is a blend of four traditional Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It presents a deep, brilliant garnet-red color with an intense and elegant bouquet featuring aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, blueberry, oak, vanilla, leather, and subtle spice notes including pepper and violet. On the palate, it is powerful and well-structured with a pleasing balance of acidity and ripe tannins, a smooth, fleshy mid-palate, and a long finish with hints of vanilla. Alcohol content is approximately 14% ABV. Contains sulfites.
The 2016 vintage received 93 points from James Suckling and is considered among the best years for the estate. The wine has earned Gold medals at the Concours de Bordeaux Vins d'Aquitaine and the Concours des Feminalise. This wine pairs excellently with beef, lamb, venison and other game, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses.
