Tarrawatta Ambervale Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-vineyard red wine from the historic Ambervale vineyard located in the northern Eden Valley, South Australia. Tarrawatta acquired the Ambervale vineyard in 2017, and has since established it as a benchmark for cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon in the region, with the original vines dating back to 1968.

The Ambervale vineyard sits in a natural amphitheatre formed by embracing hillsides, with red, rocky, mineral-dense soils that produce intensely flavored, concentrated fruit. The wine is expressive and perfumed, showing aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, cherries, mint, and eucalyptus, with flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, praline, and vanilla underpinned by mineral complexity and fine, grainy tannins. The finish is long, with notes of mineral and chocolate. The structure supports many years of cellaring — critics recommend a 10 to 15 year aging window.

This wine has earned strong critical recognition: 95 points from Andrew Caillard ("intense and seductive cabernet with attractive mineral length"), 94+ points from Jeb Dunnuck ("full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with building tannins"), and 93 points from James Suckling ("medium-bodied with fine, medium-velvety tannins and a bright, fresh finish"). Each 750ml bottle is sold individually.
