Kirkland Signature Port Cask Finished Rum is a 12-year aged rum from Panama with 43% ABV. This rum has been aged in traditional American oak barrels followed by a second maturation in port casks, which adds an additional layer of complexity. The deep amber hue presents aromas of toffee, oak, red fruit, molasses, and maple syrup. The palate shows plenty of oak and dried fruit including cherry, prune, raisin, with flavors of butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar, and cedar shavings. The finish is long and lip-smacking with notes of toffee, espresso, and a final hint of charred fruit. Wine Enthusiast awarded this rum 94 points, noting it makes an excellent dessert sipper. The rum is sweet but not overtly so, with a rich, smooth character that works well both neat and in cocktails.
