Mark Ryan Winery's Dead Horse Cabernet Sauvignon is a flagship red wine sourced from Red Mountain, one of Washington State's most prestigious wine appellations within the Columbia Valley AVA. Known for its intense heat, rich soils, and low rainfall, Red Mountain produces some of the most concentrated and age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon in the Pacific Northwest.
Dead Horse is a bold, structured Cabernet Sauvignon typically blended with small portions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The wine delivers deep flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, black currant, and dried herbs, with notes of cedar, tobacco, and earthy complexity. Firm but polished tannins frame a long, expressive finish. The wine carries approximately 14.5–14.7% ABV and is well-suited for cellaring 8–12 years from vintage.
Mark Ryan Winery was founded in 1999 by Mark McNeilly in Woodinville, Washington. The winery focuses exclusively on red Rhone and Bordeaux-style blends from premier Washington vineyards. Dead Horse is sourced from estate and partner vineyards on Red Mountain and has earned consistent critical acclaim, frequently scoring in the 92–96 point range from major wine publications.
