WhistlePig The Béhôlden is the first-ever super-aged North American Single Malt whiskey, matured for more than twice as long as any other spirit in its category. Distilled from 100% malted barley over 21 years ago at the oldest single-malt distillery on the continent — believed to be Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia, Canada — this extraordinary expression was patiently aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels to develop its complex character.

After two decades in oak, the whiskey was finished for four weeks at the WhistlePig Farm in Vermont in former 10-year rye barrels, layering in a final dimension of savory spice and subtle smokiness before being bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV). The result is a straw-colored liquid with exceptional viscosity, presenting aromas of spiced oak and cherry cordial on the nose.

On the palate, an immediate and intense honey-like sweetness leads into notes of golden raisin, graham cracker, maple, black cherry, and oatmeal cookie with a touch of baking spice. The finish is long and faintly smoky with praline notes. Each bottle arrives in an engraved solid wood mini-wardrobe with a gold-colored metal placard, double doors that open to reveal the bottle within — a presentation befitting one of the most collectible whiskeys ever produced in North America. Only 18 barrels were made in the initial release.
