Château Pichon Longueville Baron is a prestigious Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) red Bordeaux from the Pauillac appellation in the Médoc, classified in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate, located in Pauillac on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France, has a history dating back to the 17th century and is one of the most celebrated châteaux in the region.
The wine is a classic Pauillac Bordeaux blend, typically composed of approximately 60–65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30–35% Merlot, and small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It is known for its deep ruby color, complex aromatics of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and dark spice, with a full-bodied palate, firm but polished tannins, and an exceptional long finish. The wine is built for aging and at its best benefits from 10 to 40 or more years of cellaring depending on the vintage.
Château Pichon Baron is consistently rated among the top wines of Bordeaux and regularly earns scores of 90–100 points from leading wine critics. It is sold in individual 750ml bottles and is typically available at Costco as a case of 12. Best served with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, or aged hard cheeses.
