Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious wine estates in the world, located in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, France. As one of only five estates to achieve Premier Cru status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855, it produces some of the finest wines in the region. The estate's vineyards span 262 hectares with 80 hectares under vine for red wine production, planted on rare gravel terroir that gives the wines their unique character.
The typical Grand Vin blend showcases 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot from vines averaging 35 years of age. The wine displays aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, licorice, lead pencil, and hints of fresh basil. On the palate, it offers creamy, round tannins with layers of concentration, juicy black-currant flavors, and great density of freshness. The structure is elegant yet powerful, with wood tannins providing depth and complexity.
Recent vintages have earned exceptional ratings including 98 points from Roger Voss (Wine Enthusiast) and 98 points from James Suckling. The wines are known for their distinguished and sensual allure, representing the pinnacle of the Margaux appellation. Best enjoyed after decanting or cellaring for several years to allow full development of complexity.
