Château Haut-Bailly is one of the most celebrated estates in Pessac-Léognan, a prestigious appellation within the Graves region of Bordeaux, France. Classified as a Cru Classé de Graves in 1953, the estate's history of vine cultivation dates to 1461, with a modern vineyard established in 1530. The property is family-owned and directed by Véronique Sanders, whose family has been associated with Haut-Bailly for four generations.

The vineyard spans 39 planted hectares in a single large block, with soils of gravel, sandstone, and sand over limestone. Half of the vineyard is more than 50 years old, and approximately 4 hectares feature vines exceeding 120 years of age — among the oldest in all of Pessac-Léognan. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon (approximately 60%), with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot rounding out the assemblage.

The wine is vinified in thermo-regulated cement tanks and stainless steel vats, then aged for 16 to 18 months in 50–65% new French oak barrels. The result is a finesse-driven Bordeaux combining spicy, ripe dark fruit — blackberries, black raspberries, currants — with layers of tobacco, cigar box, smoke, and cedar. Tannins are refined and silky, with a long, elegant finish. Consistently scoring in the mid-90s to high 90s from major critics, this wine rewards patience; best enjoyed after 10–15 years of cellaring, with peak maturity between 15–40 years from vintage.
