Château Dassault is a prestigious Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Émilion, acquired by Marcel Dassault in 1955 and now operated by Dassault Wine Estates, the wine arm of the renowned Dassault Group. The estate encompasses approximately 24 hectares of prime Saint-Émilion vineyards planted on sandy limestone soils, and was elevated to Grand Cru Classé status in 1969.
The wine is a classic Bordeaux red blend dominated by Merlot (approximately 75%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Vinification takes place in large concrete vats, followed by aging in predominantly new French oak barrels for 14 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. The result is a strikingly elegant and refined Saint-Émilion with notes of plum, cassis, blackberry, and cigar box spice. On the palate, expect firm tannins, a generous full body, and a silky smooth texture characteristic of Merlot-dominant Bordeaux. The wine consistently earns critical acclaim, with recent vintages scoring in the low-to-mid 90s from major wine critics.
