Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the world's most iconic and prestigious wines, classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé (First Growth) in the legendary 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Produced in the Pauillac appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France, this red wine is crafted from estate vineyards planted on the estate's renowned deep gravel soils, which provide exceptional drainage and heat retention ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, varying slightly by vintage. It is celebrated for its ethereal refinement, offering aromas and flavors of ripe blackcurrants, fresh tobacco, pencil lead, graphite, and layered mineral complexity. The tannins are ultra-fine and beautifully integrated, with remarkable aging potential of several decades. Recent vintages have earned perfect 100-point scores from multiple leading critics including James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, and Wine Enthusiast.
Château Lafite Rothschild is owned and operated by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), and its 112-hectare estate benefits from a mild oceanic climate that lends elegance and finesse to each vintage. This wine is sold as a 750ml bottle and is intended for long-term cellaring, best enjoyed after significant aging of 10 or more years.
