Chateau Tanesse is a classic Right Bank Bordeaux blend from the Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux appellation, produced by Vignobles Gonfrier. The estate's chartreuse manor house dates to the second half of the 18th century, and its 30 hectares of vineyards sit on high ground above the Garonne River in the Entre-Deux-Mers wine region of Bordeaux, France.
The blend is typically composed of approximately 55% Merlot, 40–45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a small portion of Cabernet Franc. The wine presents a deep ruby color with aromas of ripe black cherry, currant, cassis, dark plum, wood spice, dark chocolate, and graphite. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied and dry, with silky, velvety tannins, bright acidity, and a lingering mineral finish. Recent vintages have earned scores of 89–92 points from Wine Enthusiast, with the 2019 and 2018 vintages each receiving 92 points.
Pairs well with beef, lamb, pork, venison, mushroom-based dishes, tomato-based sauces, pasta, and aged or pungent cheeses. The wine is enjoyable upon release and also suitable for short-term cellaring.
