Tabalí Talinay Pinot Noir is a premium single-vineyard red wine from the Limarí Valley in Chile, crafted by Viña Tabalí from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown at the iconic Talinay vineyard. The Talinay vineyard sits just 12 km from the Pacific Ocean, hidden in a small valley of Limarí, and holds the distinction of being the only vineyard in Chile planted over pure chalk and limestone soil. Constant ocean breezes and proximity to the Atacama desert create ideal cool-climate conditions — virtually rot-free vines, summer temperatures never exceeding 23.5°C, and a harvest that runs two to three weeks later than other Chilean coastal regions.

Grapes are hand-picked in March with careful bunch selection: 70% destemmed and 30% whole cluster. After a 7-day cold soak at 8°C, the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 20–26°C, with gentle manual pump-overs. The wine macerates briefly for added body, then ages for 12 months in prestigious French oak barrels from Fontainebleau, Jupille, Bertrange, Tronçais, and Allier cooperages, with full malolactic fermentation throughout.

The wine pours a pretty crimson color. The nose is hugely alluring — crushed red cherry fruit combined with a floral violet note and a subtle mineral character. On the palate, the hallmarks of the Talinay vineyard shine: striking salinity, stony limestone minerality, and vibrant refreshing acidity, woven through with black cherry and Italian-esque sour cherry fruit, finishing long and captivating. At 13.5% alcohol, this wine has earned 98 points from Descorchados, 95 from Tim Atkin MW, and an Outstanding rating from Decanter. It has been named Best Red Wine, Best Pinot Noir from Chile, and Wine of the Year by Descorchados. Pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roast duck, and guinea fowl. Contains sulfites.
