Carrasviñas Verdejo is a 100% Verdejo white wine from the Rueda DO appellation in Castilla y León, Spain, produced by Bodegas Félix Lorenzo Cachazo — one of the founding families of the modern Rueda denomination. The wine is sourced from pre-phylloxera old vines reaching up to 100 years of age, which produce low yields of exceptionally concentrated fruit.
Grapes are handpicked by night during the third week of September to preserve aromatics, then gently crushed and pressed to extract free-run juice. A cold settling is followed by alcoholic fermentation over 30 days at 14°C to retain freshness and varietal character.
In the glass, Carrasviñas pours a bright straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is aromatic and complex, offering tropical fruits including papaya and pineapple alongside floral notes, herbaceous hints, and touches of aniseed and menthol. On the palate the wine is ample and fleshy, with lively acidity, subtle varietal character, and an intense, elegant bitter finish. It pairs beautifully with rice dishes featuring fish or seafood, sushi, avocado and shrimp, smoked salmon, boiled lobster, and meat or tuna tartare.
The wine has earned consistent critical acclaim, including 92 points from Wine Enthusiast (2021 vintage), 91 points from James Suckling (2021), 91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2020), and a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (2020).
