Château Malescot St-Exupéry is a historic estate located in the prestigious Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France, classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Grand Cru Classé) in the renowned 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The château sits adjacent to the legendary Château Margaux and Château Palmer, and takes its name from two former owners: Simon Malescot, a royal councillor to the Bordeaux parliament who acquired the property in 1697, and Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, who owned it from 1827 to 1853.
This 3L double magnum format presents the estate's flagship Margaux red wine, a classic Bordeaux blend centered on Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine is vinified in temperature-controlled concrete vats and stainless steel tanks on 30 hectares of gravel, chalk, and clay soils with iron deposits. Tasting notes across recent vintages include dark currants, cherry, plum, and dark chocolate, with a full-bodied palate featuring elegant integrated tannins and a long, graphite-edged finish.
The wine consistently earns high critical acclaim, with scores regularly reaching 93–97 points from James Suckling, Wine Spectator, and Decanter. Large-format bottles such as the 3L double magnum are particularly prized for their superior aging potential and are ideal for grand occasions or long-term cellaring. Typical alcohol content is 14–14.5% ABV.
