Château Haut-Brion is a Premier Grand Cru Classé from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux, France. This prestigious estate was established in 1525 by Jean de Pontac and became the first of the great Bordeaux wines to gain international recognition, achieving remarkable success in London by the 1660s. The property has been owned by the Dillon family since 1935 and remains one of the most celebrated wines in the world.
The vineyard spans 52.82 hectares with 49.89 hectares dedicated to red wine production. The red wine blend typically consists of 46% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. This large format 3-liter bottle (double magnum) offers exceptional aging potential and is ideal for special occasions and collectors.
Expert tasting notes describe the wine as having a deep, dark purple-black color with restrained dark plum and prune aromas overlaid by chocolatey notes. The wine is mouth-filling with good grip, excellent acidity, and a medium to full-bodied palate. The finish reveals impressive ripe, juicy red-plum and prune fruit with exotic sweet spices. This wine pairs exceptionally well with beef and venison dishes.
