Chateau Lafon-Rochet is a prestigious Fourth Growth (Quatrième Cru Classé) estate from the historic 1855 Bordeaux classification, situated in the Saint-Estephe appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate traces its origins to 1650 and has been in the hands of the Tesseron family since 1960 — the same family celebrated for Chateau Pontet-Canet. The 41-hectare vineyard is planted on gravel and clay soils, with the oldest vines dating back to 1938, contributing remarkable depth and complexity to every bottle.
This offering presents the acclaimed 2020 vintage in a 3-liter double-magnum format, sold as a case of 3 bottles (9 liters total). The 2020 Bordeaux vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest in recent memory. Chateau Lafon-Rochet's blend is anchored by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, delivering aromas of dark plum, blackcurrant, graphite, and subtle earth, with structured tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish. The wine is built for the cellar, with peak drinking projected from 2028 through 2045 and beyond.
The 3-liter format is prized among collectors for its slower, more graceful aging compared to standard 750ml bottles, making this an outstanding opportunity to acquire a classified Bordeaux growth at impressive scale through Costco's wine program.
