St. George Spirits 40th Anniversary Edition Single Malt Whiskey is a limited, one-time-only release celebrating four decades of artisan distillation in Alameda, California. This exclusive Costco bundle includes three 750mL bottles, with purchases limited to one per membership.

The whiskey is crafted from a mash bill of 100% two-row malted barley roasted to five distinct levels — pale, crystal, chocolate, black patent, and alder/beechwood-smoked malt sourced from Bamberg, Germany. Master distiller Lance Winters hand-selected just 14 casks from over 600 sampled, encompassing a diverse array of finishing vessels: ex-bourbon barrels, French oak, Cognac casks, apple brandy barrels, umeshu casks, Port, Sherry, and California Sauternes-style casks. The resulting blend spans whiskies aged between 4 and 25 years, bottled at 48% ABV (96 proof).

On the nose it opens with vibrant cola, dark chocolate, and lager, giving way to brown butter, salted caramel, fennel, and sandalwood, with candied berry and coconut emerging over time. The palate delivers dark chocolate deepening to walnut fudge and latte, amber malt with buttered waffle, coconut and warming spice (cinnamon, clove, candied ginger), stone fruit, tropical undertones, sherry and tawny port, fig preserves, and a soft smoky finish.
