Château Suau is a 1855 Deuxièmes Crus Classé estate located in the Barsac appellation of Sauternes, Bordeaux, France. It is the smallest of all the 1855 Classified Growths at just 6.5 hectares, making it one of the most rare and sought-after classified Sauternes producers. Since 2015, the estate has been managed by Olivier Bernard of the renowned Domaine de Chevalier under an 18-year leasing agreement.
The vineyard is planted to 100% Sémillon on a terroir of gravel and clay soils, farmed organically since 2008 and certified by Ecocert since 2012. The wine is vinified entirely in French oak barrels, with 25% new oak, producing a wine of exceptional richness and complexity. This 500ml half-bottle is ideal for enjoying as an aperitif or pairing with a single course.
Château Suau Sauternes delivers aromas of candied apricot, pineapple, honey, and flowers, with a palate that balances lush tropical fruit sweetness with vibrant acidity. It pairs beautifully with foie gras, shellfish, lobster, soft and hard cheeses, spicy Asian cuisine, and roasted poultry. Best served at 14°C (57°F) and enjoyable on release, though the wine develops further complexity over 7–18 years of cellaring.
