Clay Shannon Pinot Noir is a CCOF-certified organic red wine from Lake County, North Coast, California, produced by Shannon Family of Wines under the Clay Shannon label. The fruit is sourced from Long Valley Ranch, located in a five-mile-long transverse valley nestled between two 3,000-foot mountain ranges in Lake County's fertile valley floor.
This mid-weight Pinot Noir pours a deep garnet and opens with aromas of toasty oak and cherry cola. On the palate, it delivers flavors of vanilla, dried cherry, and star anise, with accents of cinnamon, clove, and ripe fruit. It features balanced acidity and light tannins, making it a versatile and food-friendly wine. The 2023 vintage received 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, which praised it as multidimensional and full-bodied. Alcohol content is approximately 13.9% ABV.
Shannon Family of Wines was founded by Clay Shannon, a longtime vineyard manager and sustainability advocate whose operating philosophy centers on growing the best fruit possible while preserving the land for future generations. The winery is based in Lakeport, California.
