This 8-inch Curcuma (Curcuma alismatifolia) arrives potted in a decorative ceramic basket, ready to display indoors or on a covered patio. Also known as the Siam Tulip or Thai Tulip, this striking tropical plant belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and produces tall, cone-like flower bracts in shades of pink, purple, or white throughout the summer months. Plants grow to approximately 2 feet tall and feature lush, broad tropical foliage that remains attractive even when not in bloom.
Place in bright, indirect light for 6–8 hours daily, avoiding harsh direct afternoon sun which can scorch the leaves. Curcuma thrives in warm temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C) and prefers higher humidity levels of 50–70%. Water thoroughly when the top inch or two of soil feels dry, keeping the soil consistently moist during the active growing season, but never waterlogged. Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks from spring through late summer.
As days shorten in autumn, the plant will naturally enter dormancy — leaves will yellow and die back, which is normal. Reduce watering significantly and allow the plant to rest cool and dry until spring. Plant is not intended for human or animal consumption and is toxic to cats and dogs.
