Joseph Castan Côtes du Rhône Red is a classic Southern French red wine from the AOP Côtes du Rhône appellation, part of the producer's "Secret des Galets" range celebrating the richness of the southern Rhône Valley terroir. This 750ml bottle is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, sourced from vines grown in stony soils with high clay and limestone content. The terroir's pebbly soils, Mistral winds, and generous sunshine shape the wine's distinctive character.

After complete destemming, the Syrah and Grenache are vinified traditionally with a two-week maceration in a temperature-controlled environment. A small portion of the Syrah is vinified by carbonic maceration to enhance the wine's fruit expression. The result is a deep, dark red with mauve reflections and a nose of blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, and violet. On the palate the wine is fresh and round, with silky tannins that give way to a fruity, lingering finish.

The wine contains 13.5% alcohol by volume and just 0.8 g/L of residual sugar, making it dry and approachable. Serve between 17–18°C. It pairs well with grilled meats, charcuterie, omelettes, and pizza. Joseph Castan Côtes du Rhône was awarded a Gold Medal at the Gilbert & Gaillard 2020 competition.
