Wild caught Chilean Sea Bass (Patagonian Toothfish) sold by the pound at the fresh seafood counter, previously frozen at sea to preserve quality and freshness. This premium white fish is known for its buttery, flaky texture and mild, delicate flavor, often called the "Filet Mignon of the Sea." The fish features high natural oil content that keeps it moist and makes it difficult to overcook, resulting in a tender, flaky texture when properly prepared. Chilean Sea Bass can be prepared multiple ways including grilling, pan-searing, or baking. Recommended cooking methods include searing with butter and herbs, coating with seasoned bread crumbs, or simply seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic.
For best results, thaw unwrapped in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours, or use quick thaw method by placing sealed portions under cool water for 15-30 minutes, replacing water every 5 minutes. Cook until fish flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145ยฐF.
