2XO American Oak is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey crafted by master blender Dixon Dedman, the acclaimed distiller behind Kentucky Owl. The name "2XO" stands for "Two Times Oak," reflecting Dedman's signature double-oak technique in which chains of charred American oak are inserted into barrels already holding a moderately rye-forward bourbon with an 18% rye mash bill. This innovative process imparts additional layers of character and complexity to each batch, available in a 750ml bottle at 94 proof.

The American Oak expression is the inaugural release in 2XO's Oak Series, debuted in September 2023 as an approachable everyday bourbon blended for consistent taste and character. On the nose, it opens with rich vanilla, honeysuckle, caramel, and a hint of citrus zest. The palate is nicely textured with butterscotch, roasted cashews, nougat, caramel brittle, and baked pears supported by warm baking spices. The finish is well-structured and balanced, with light peppery spice, cardamom, and black peppercorns lingering as the sweetness gradually fades.
