Hestan Vineyards' Vincent Christopher Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine sourced from the Walala Vineyard on the West Sonoma Coast AVA, named in honor of the two sons of winery founders Stanley and Helen Hestan. The wine is crafted by Pinot Noir specialist Jeff Gaffner using 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown at elevations between 1,200 and 1,600 feet on a ridgetop that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
The Walala Vineyard was planted in 2001 across 17 acres featuring four Pinot Noir clones: 777, 828, 113, and 115. For this wine, Dijon clones 113 and 828 are selected, with whole-cluster fermentation employed to achieve elegant structure and aging potential. The wine is aged 15 months in neutral oak, preserving the vineyard's expressive fruit character while adding complexity. Alcohol content is approximately 14.5% ABV.
Tasting notes reflect the cool coastal terroir with aromas of cranberry, black cherry, cedar, and herbal tones. Depending on vintage, expect flavors ranging from ripe dark cherry and raspberry to more savory notes of black tea, forest floor, and dried herbs. The wine has been recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the top Pinot Noirs in California, with the winery receiving the Award of Excellence. This Costco offering is sold as a 12-bottle case (12 x 750ml).
