Founding Brothers is a premium Napa Valley red wine from Cathiard Vineyard, a historic estate in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains originally established in 1885 by Scottish brothers James and William Rennie. This bold and structured Bordeaux-style blend features 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, displaying the distinctive "Rutherford dust" character of its terroir.

The wine is produced exclusively from estate grapes using traditional winemaking methods. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes gentle de-stemming and optical berry sorting before gravity transfer to fermentation vessels. Following a cold soak of up to 5 days, fermentation is maintained below 82°F with gentle pump-overs and punch-downs. After 30 days in tanks, the wine completes malolactic fermentation naturally in new French oak.

Tasting notes reveal layers of blackberries, black cherries, licorice, chocolate, and vanilla bean with a powerful, concentrated, and lush profile. The wine pairs exceptionally well with beef and venison dishes. The 2020 vintage was ranked No. 98 in Wine Spectator's 2023 Top 100 and has received an average critic score of 93/100.
