Identity: A Novel by Nora Roberts

Identity is a gripping romantic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, published by St. Martin's Press (Macmillan). This 448-page standalone novel follows Morgan Albright, a driven young woman who has carefully built a stable life for herself outside of Baltimore — her own home, a steady bartending job, and a trusted roommate — only to have it destroyed in a single devastating night. After inviting a charming man she met at the bar into her dinner party, Morgan discovers her home has been robbed, her car stolen, and her roommate murdered. The man, a cold-hearted con artist named Gavin, targets women like Morgan to steal their identities and assets — and then kill them. Morgan escaped his plan, but Nina did not.

With her finances gutted and her sense of safety shattered, Morgan flees to her mother's home in Vermont, where she slowly rebuilds her life among family, new friends, and a small-town community. She finds work, plants new roots, and opens herself to love again — even as the FBI warns her that Gavin is still out there, hunting new victims, and that he has not forgotten her.

Praised by Booklist as "perfectly paced" with "a superbly realized cast of characters," Identity weaves a dual narrative between Morgan's healing journey and Gavin's unraveling obsession, creating a compulsively readable story about resilience, community, and the fight to reclaim one's own life.
