Château Montrose is a storied Bordeaux estate located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of the Médoc, classified as a Second Growth in the prestigious 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Since its acquisition by brothers Thomas and Martin Bouygues in 2006, the estate has undergone a sweeping €55 million renovation focused on sustainability, modern winemaking, and environmental stewardship. Today Château Montrose is widely regarded as a "Super Second," producing wines that rival the great First Growths at a comparatively accessible price point — earning nine perfect 100-point scores from international critics since 2009.
The 237-acre vineyard is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (6%), and Petit Verdot (2%), with an average vine age of 40 years. Grapes are vinified parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled vats of varying sizes, then aged approximately 18 months in around 60% new French oak barrels. The resulting wines are celebrated for their power, structure, complexity, and remarkable aging potential.
This 750ml bottle is an ideal choice for collectors and wine enthusiasts seeking a world-class Bordeaux that delivers exceptional quality relative to its price.
