Michael Franzese Areni is a premium dry red wine crafted from 100% Areni grapes, the ancient ancestor of Pinot Noir grown in Armenia for over 6,000 years. This wine comes from the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, where grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards located between 4,300 and 6,000 feet above sea level on black volcanic soils near the base of Mount Ararat. The wine is vinified using both modern and traditional Armenian techniques, including the use of clay vessels called Karases and stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks. 30% of the wine is aged in second-year and neutral barrels, imparting subtle oak notes and well-integrated tannins.

The wine presents opulent and rich flavors of ripe red berries, coastal raspberries, early season red cherries, tart plum, and dried plum, complemented by caramel, vanilla, cedar notes, light baking spices, and dry earth aromatics. With a powerful yet elegant tannic structure and 12% ABV, this wine pairs beautifully with braised meats, bolognese with parmesan, lean cuts of steak or pork, beef, chicken, and pork dishes. Michael Franzese Areni has received critical acclaim, earning 94 points from wine experts and a gold medal from the Beverage Testing Institute.
