Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru is a prestigious Premier Cru red Burgundy crafted from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from select premier cru vineyard parcels in Beaune, on the celebrated Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France. This 750ml bottle is an expression of one of Burgundy's oldest and most illustrious wine estates, founded in 1731 and headquartered in the historic 15th-century Château de Beaune, a Monument Historique at the heart of the appellation. Since 1995, the estate has been owned and managed by Henriot, one of the last great family-owned Champagne houses, which has made significant investments in sustainable viticulture and winemaking across the estate's 130 hectares of vines.
The wine opens with a fragrant bouquet of ripe cherry, cassis, and redcurrant, layered with hints of spice such as clove and cinnamon, and subtle earthy nuances of forest floor and damp stone. On the palate, juicy red fruit flavors are complemented by well-integrated tannins that provide pleasing structure without overwhelming the palate. As the wine develops, notes of earth, leather, and savory complexity emerge, culminating in a persistent finish of red berries and spice.
Best served at 15–17°C (59–63°F), with decanting for 30–60 minutes recommended to allow the aromas and flavors to fully open. Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, duck, game, mushroom risotto, and classic French country dishes such as Coq au Vin. The wine has demonstrated meaningful aging potential and rewards cellaring in a cool, stable environment.
