Cellier des Princes Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a red wine from the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley. Produced by the only cooperative cellar in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, Cellier des Princes was founded in 1925 and has become a benchmark producer for the region. This 750ml bottle represents the classic style of one of France's most celebrated wine-growing areas.
The wine displays a ruby-red color with spice-accented aromas of raspberry and cherry, layered with notes of garrigue and white pepper. On the palate it is sweet and expansive, offering lively red and dark berry flavors with a warm finish, firm closing structure, gentle tannins, and good persistence. Wine Spectator awarded it 90 points, noting warm plum, blackberry, and black cherry compote with singed alder, spice, tobacco, and warm stone details. Vinous Media similarly awarded 90 points. Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are typically blended from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes, with the appellation's distinctive large rounded stones (galets) contributing to the wines' ripeness and complexity.
