Del Maguey Vida Puebla is a Single Village Mezcal crafted using artisanal methods in Axocopan, Puebla, near the base of the active volcano Popocatépetl. This 40% ABV mezcal is made from 100% organic Espadín agave grown in the volcanic mineral-rich soil of Puebla. The production follows traditional methods where ripe agaves are roasted underground in earthen pits, naturally fermented in the local environment, and twice-distilled in small copper stills.
The flavor profile features a nose of bright fruit and florals with notes of strawberry and tropical fruit. The palate offers a soft texture with hints of green herbs, poblano peppers, and savory notes of roasted agave. The smoke is lighter and more muted compared to traditional Oaxacan mezcals, with a slightly sweet finish. This expression brings the heritage of Vida Clásico from San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca, to the neighboring state of Puebla, offering a different terroir expression while maintaining the artisanal quality Del Maguey is known for.
Vida Puebla is versatile for both sipping and cocktails, particularly well-suited for margaritas, palomas, and other agave-forward mixed drinks. Founded in 1995 by artist and mezcal visionary Ron Cooper, Del Maguey was the first producer to introduce organic, artisanal Single Village Mezcal to the international market. The brand is now part of the Pernod Ricard portfolio.
