Château Carbonnieux is one of Bordeaux's most historic estates, situated in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation within the Graves region of France. This Grand Cru Classé de Graves carries centuries of winemaking tradition and is managed by the Perrin family. The 2019 vintage is a classic Bordeaux red blend composed of approximately 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, vinified through slow and gentle extraction to preserve the roundness of the wine and the mineral characteristics of the gravelly soil.
The 2019 vintage earned outstanding critical acclaim, receiving 94 points from both James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck, 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, 92 points from Decanter, 91 points from Wine Advocate, and 91 points from Wine Spectator. Reviewers praised its deep aromas of black fruit, dried sage, charred bark, lavender, graphite, and oyster shell, with a full-bodied palate featuring firm, tightly wound tannins and a seamless, elegant texture. Notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, and toasted French oak emerge throughout, with a long, focused finish.
Aged in the finest French oak barrels, only the best batches are selected for the final blend. The wine is best enjoyed from 2023 through 2032. It pairs beautifully with grilled, roasted, or stewed meats, swordfish, tuna, aged cheeses, and chocolate desserts.
