Ink Grade Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is a premium red wine produced by Ink Grade, a standalone brand from the Howell Mountain estate acquired by Lawrence Wine Estates as part of the Heitz Cellar purchase. The 2019 vintage is a blend of 88.4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11.6% Merlot, crafted by winemaker Matt Taylor from biodynamically grown, Demeter-certified grapes.
The wine is aged for 9 months in a combination of new French oak barrels and oak tanks, followed by an additional 26 months of aging. It opens with aromas of fresh cassis, pomegranate, cocoa, thyme, mint, and candied orange peel, leading to a palate with bright acidity and well-integrated mountain tannins that carry through a persistent finish. Tasting notes also highlight flavors of boysenberry and vanilla.
This Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has received critical acclaim, scoring 93 points from Wine Spectator and ratings between 91 and 94 points from publications including Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, and James Suckling. The 750ML bottle is sold in cases of six.
