Domaines Schlumberger Riesling Les Princes Abbés is a dry Alsatian white wine from one of the region's most storied family estates. Domaines Schlumberger holds more than 330 acres in Guebwiller, making it the largest Grands Crus producer in Alsace, with all wines estate-grown. Strict yields — roughly 50% of the appellation average — concentrate flavor and produce grapes of exceptional quality.
The Les Princes Abbés name honors the Abbots princes of the Abbey at Murbach, who owned the surrounding vineyards before the French Revolution and were among the first to export wines from Guebwiller. This Riesling is sourced from Bollenberg and from young vines within the Saering and Kessler Grand Cru sites, as well as Kitterlé.
In the glass, the wine shows a lemon-yellow color with green highlights. The nose is fresh and expressive with citrus, white flowers, lemongrass, and a subtle smoky mineral character. On the palate it is focused and taut, with lemon zest, light vegetal notes, and a pronounced saline minerality carrying through to a clean, persistent finish. With just 0.47 g/L residual sugar it is effectively bone dry. Alcohol: 12.75%. Pair with Parmesan, seafood, crab-stuffed tomatoes, or fresh goat's milk cheeses. Serve at 54°F. Rated 91 points by James Suckling and 90 points by Wine Enthusiast.
