Diora Three Crowns is an estate Syrah sourced from the family-owned San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey, California. The Diora name is inspired by "d'Or," the French phrase for "golden," a nod to the sunlit golden hills of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range that frames the vineyard. This wine represents over 30 years of vineyard-to-bottle craftsmanship on one of Monterey's most distinguished estates.
This full-bodied red blend is composed of 78% Syrah, 14.4% Malbec, 3.7% Grenache, and 3.7% Viognier. The blend combines Syrah's intensity with the supple tannins of Malbec and the aromatic elegance of Grenache and Viognier. The nose opens with commanding aromas of ripe plum, dark red cherries, and blueberry. On the palate, velvety tannins frame concentrated black cherry preserves with lingering notes of rich mocha and brown sugar.
Grapes are drawn from three distinct Syrah blocks within the San Bernabe Vineyard. Block 25, planted in 1991 on an ancient stabilized sand dune, yields small, concentrated berries with ripe plum fruit. Block 45A adds blackberry character and structural tannins. Block 39A, planted with Syrah clone 470, contributes intensely dark licorice fruit and a hint of white pepper. The wine is aged for 18 months in 67% French oak and 33% American oak (approximately 30% new). Alcohol: 15.0% by volume. pH: 3.58. Total acid: 0.59g/100ml.
Pairs beautifully with Moroccan-spiced lamb, braised short ribs, venison stew, smoked gouda, or aged cheddar cheese.
