A premium Argentinian Malbec from renowned winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti, crafted from some of the world's oldest Malbec vines planted in 1910 in La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza. This wine showcases the exceptional quality of 114-year-old centenarian vines with exceptionally low yields—it takes two vines to produce just a single bottle. The name "1853" pays tribute to the year when Michel Pouget originally planted Malbec in Mendoza, vines that would later supply France with fresh plant material after phylloxera devastated their vineyards.
The wine displays saturated dark ruby-black color with violet overtones. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, black mission fig, and dark chocolate dominate, complemented by hints of mint, black olive, wild herbs, and crushed gravel. On the palate, it delivers old vine density with a supple, polished, and soft quality, offering richness and impact coupled with finesse. The wine exhibits full body with layered complexity, tight structure, and intense character, featuring additional notes of bark. Rated 95 points by James Suckling, this exceptional Malbec pairs beautifully with red meat, hard cheese, and cured meats. Optimal serving temperature is 60°F. Drink now through 2030.
