Villa Pani Appassimento Barbera Piemonte is a rich, fruit-forward Italian red wine crafted from Barbera grapes grown in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. Produced by the Mondodelvino group under the Villa Pani label, this wine is made using the traditional appassimento technique, in which hand-harvested grapes are dried in small crates for five to six weeks, concentrating their aromas and natural sugars as water slowly evaporates before fermentation.
The wine pours a deep ruby-red with purplish hues and offers an inviting bouquet of ripe Piemontese cherries, wild berries, plums, dried figs, and violet, complemented by hints of vanilla, dark caramel, and subtle smoky nuances. On the palate it is full-bodied and concentrated, with lively acidity that provides freshness and balance against the ripe, almost raisined fruit character. Soft tannins carry through to a long, cherry-fruited finish. Alcohol content is 14% by volume. Rated 89 points by Falstaff (2023 tasting) and 4.0 stars on Vivino across hundreds of ratings.
This versatile table wine pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, red meats, game, veal, pork, and poultry dishes, and is equally enjoyable on its own. Contains sulfites. Sold in a case of 12 x 750ml bottles.
