Piccini Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a prestigious Italian red wine crafted by Tenute Piccini, a fourth-generation family winery founded in Tuscany in 1882. Made entirely from 100% Sangiovese grapes, the wine originates from vineyards situated at 350 meters elevation in limestone-based soils rich with clay and schist, benefiting from sea breezes drifting in from the Maremma coast.
This Brunello carries the DOCG designation — Italy's highest wine classification — and is required by law to be aged for at least two years in oak casks followed by six months of bottle rest, releasing no earlier than the fifth year after harvest. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats for 10 to 12 days before the extended oak aging process begins. The result is a complex, structured red wine with aromas of wild berry, violet, and new leather, leading to flavors of morello cherry, red cherry, orange zest, wild thyme, marjoram, and a hint of star anise. The palate is full-bodied with taut, well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, balanced finish.
Piccini's Brunello di Montalcino has earned critical acclaim including 94 Points from Wine Enthusiast (2018 vintage) and Berlin Wine Trophy Gold awards for multiple vintages. The wine is crafted from organically farmed, hand-harvested grapes. It pairs beautifully with roasted meats, beef, lamb, game such as venison, and rich pasta dishes. 14% alcohol by volume. Contains sulfites.
